I have spent the last 20 years trying to unlearn the unrealistic expectations I had set myself. You know the kind; I have to be the perfect mother, perfect housewife, successful business woman, have a beautiful garden, keep on top of my self care, meditate every day, exercise regularly, eat healthily… The list goes on.
When I had my daughter almost 20 years ago my need for perfection was amplified, but as she never slept for longer than 90 minutes at a time (day or night), I quickly had to start reassessing what was possible. Then 17 years ago I was diagnosed with a pituitary tumour and a condition called acromegaly and I had to reassess again.
