New Beginnings
A few subtle changes to my gentle journalling community
I have talked so much recently about the feeling that things are changing and that personally and globally there seems to be some shifts happening. Don’t worry I’m not going to revisit all that, but following the start of Spring the energy has definitely changed again and I am excited to be embracing this new start with a refresh of my beloved community.
For almost exactly four years I have been running my online journalling for wellbeing group, A little word told me… and it brings me so much joy, but it is time for a refresh. Time to gently plump the cushions and change the scent of the candle. Nothing too dramatic, just a little change to mark the recent shifts I have been feeling.
From tomorrow A little word told me… will be known as Reflective Inklings. It isn’t just a name change though, the content of the emails will be slightly different. In addition to the previous content (musings around the monthly theme, a poem which ties in with the theme and of course a relevant journal prompt) there will be deeper discussion, a visual writing prompt, and a monthly book recommendation.
Why is this community so special?
This intimate group of women gather online, every month, for an hour of discussion, emotional support and meditation. The numbers are intentionally keep low so that it is a safe space for everyone involved. There is a little room at the table this month, and especially with this little rebrand, I wanted to share the opportunity with my other community, you here on Substack.
This is not a membership with high demands. Yes, you receive an email every week with things to read, and activities to try, but if life is life-ing and you don’t have time to open the email some weeks we all understand because we all have those weeks too.
Some months a large section of our live session is taken up in discussing something relevant tone of our members current challenges rather than the theme, but that is because we all genuinely care about each other, and I won’t apologise for that. We always make time to discuss the theme and we may share our experiences with the prompts. We always end the session with a gentle guided meditation, then we float off the call and into a calm and contented evening.
What Reflective Inklings is not
Reflective Inklings isn’t a high pressure, rapid transformative membership. It is a safe space to gather with like minded souls, to share your personal philosophies and support each other on life’s often turbulent path.
If you are looking for dramatic transformation Reflective Inklings is not for you, my 1:1 coaching sessions are more suitable for your needs. I don’t believe that high impact transformation is the purpose of communities. Groups like this are for gentle guidance, unexpected enlightenment, and should feel like a pair of old slippers and a warm cuppa.
The real magic of my community
The real beauty of this community is in the subtle, but often life changing, shifts that happen.
"These sessions have given me the confidence to just write." - Becky (A little word told me… member)
As someone who has used writing to heal and express myself all my life, I know how powerful this process can be, and watching others discover the benefits is wonderful. Seeing someone gently unfurl their petals, be brave enough to write down their inner thoughts for the first time, and then see the impact that has on them, that is where the real magic lies.
For some it is the gentle introduction to meditation that has the greatest impact. Some members complete every prompt, but don’t want to join the online sessions. Others, don’t get chance to do all the prompts, but love joining the lives. Everyone takes what they need from the community. For some it is the weekly poem that they look forward to most, others just enjoy the chat.
What it means to me
This group is so important to me. I am endlessly proud of the safe space we have created, of the brave, beautiful women who join me on this path to self discovery and creativity every month.
The contents of the weekly emails are my heart’s desire. They are all the things I would love to receive in my inbox every week; a gentle poem, a prompt to encourage me to write and look closer at myself, an image to spark my imagination, and the inner ramblings of a like-minded soul. I hope these emails give the recipients as much of a hug when they receive them, as I feel as I craft them.
If any of this sounds like something you need in your life, why not sign up for a 7 day free trial and experience the emails for yourself. Creating genuine connections is one of my favourite things in the world and I always love hearing from you.
"I really enjoy having a reminder in my inbox to write, as I don't think I'm disciplined enough to do it off my own bat, yet. I reeeeeally love the live session, as I get a lot from talking through what comes out of my own reflections and from hearing about other people's discoveries/experiences. I want more." - Jen (A little word told me… member)
